Maison Syrah is situated at Domaine de La Flotte, an estate at the ´Col de La Flotte´ where you have a beautiful view of the Pyrenees. It is an oasis of quiet, wooded hills and meadows.
You can make magnificent walks here and enjoy the unspoilt nature or explore the surroundings on a mountain-bike. You can hire one of the horses and go for a ride in the hillside, with guide Manuel.
You can make use of the (shared) swimming pool (round, 6 m) or go to one of the nearby lakes: Lac Montbel or Lac de Puivert, where you can swim, surf, sail or hire a pedalo.
In Chalabre, only a 10 minutes drive away, you will find shops, a supermarket, a bank and restaurants.
There is a market every Monday morning in Mirepoix (25 minutes driving).
From the ruins of an old farm 5 new houses have arisen.
Each house has its own terrace, so your privacy is guaranteed. The only thing they share is the pool and the lovely view to the Pyrenees.
Maison Syrah is the biggest house, very well suitable for large families or groups of friends, but also for conferences, meetings, workshops, etc.
The house has a spacious living-room with dining place (tables for at least 8-10 people, more tables can be added), sofas, seats and TV. Fitted kitchen with two cooking plates (gas and electricity). Two arched doors lead to the terrace with view to the apple and nut trees and of course, the Pyrenees.
On the first as well as on the second floor there are 2 bedrooms (with twin beds), each with bathroom and shower and/or bathtub.
There is a barbecue area and a terrace in front of the house.
Two beautiful large lakes nearby (Lac Montbel and Lac de Puivert). Close to village Chalabre with all amenities and close to all interesting sites of the region Languedoc / Aude like Mirepoix, Carcassonne (Cité), Narbonne (Roman history – Via domitia), Cathar castles as Peyrepertuse and Quéribus.
The towns of Limoux and Mirepoix have markets on Fridays and Mondays respectively and are rich with local specialities, there are also number of other markets in the area. Limoux is also renowned for its Blanquette and Cremant made locally.
The town of Carcassonne and the walled medieval ‘La Cite’ steeped in history, are just 40 minutes away.
The area around Quillan and Axat (30 minutes drive) is ideal for white water rafting, canoeing and canyoning.
There is a market every Monday morning in medieval Mirepoix – a must-see (25 minutes driving) and one every Friday in Limoux.
Limoux, famous for its carnaval and its blanquette is also just 25 minutes driving away and the medieval Cité of Carcassonne only 35 minutes.
Other interesting sites: Gorges de Galamus, cathar castles Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Puylaurens etc.
The Tour de France passes close by every year.
The Mediterranean coast is just about an hour driving and also a day trip to Andorra or to Spain is possible (about two hours driving).
Golf course at 25 km (18 holes).
Close to airports as Barcelona and Toulouse or Montpellier, Beziers, Perpignan.
A climb up the Pech de Bugarach is worth doing! Or a visit to Rennes-le-Château!

- At the end of the rental period the tenant should yield up the premises to the landlord in a flawless and clean condition, according to a checklist that will be handed out on arrival. However, a cleaning service is at his disposal (100 €)
